Strawberry-Banana Green Smoothie
1 cup dairy-free milk or water
1-2 Tbsp chia seeds* (optional; provides omega 3 fatty acids)
¼- ½ frozen banana
2-3 frozen strawberries
Sweetener to taste (suggestions: ¼ tsp NOW organic stevia; or 1 Tbsp pure maple syrup)
2 large handfuls of baby spinach or kale
½ avocado (adds healthy fat and makes it thick and creamy)
Add ingredients in the order listed and blend until smooth.
*soak chia seeds in milk for 20 minutes up to overnight to make a “gel”, if desired.
Tips: Experiment with different combinations of fruits. If fruit isn’t frozen, add in 1-2 ice cubes to make it cold, if desired. Adding protein powder will make it a meal.
